Sesshin at Chozen-ji
Sesshin is a technology for helping people go beyond their self-imposed limits. It is an extremely rigorous, 6-day training period with little sleep and long periods of meditation. Students who are already attending weekly classes at Chozen-ji or who have lived in may inquire about joining sesshin.
If you are new to Chozen-ji and interested in joining sesshin, please see our Training page to learn how to fulfill these prerequisites.
The schedule at Chozen-ji’s sesshin is very rigorous and not well suited to beginners.
Participants wake up at 4:30AM and go to bed at midnight. They meditate at least six hours a day, engage in select martial and fine arts, and do physical work on the Chozen-ji grounds.
Sesshin participation is by donation. Meals are provided and accommodations are basic.
Participants arrange and finance their own transportation to Honolulu.
