2023 is the Year of the Water Rabbit, by Norma Kaweloku Wong Roshi

2023 is the Year of the Water Rabbit, a once in a 120 to 150-year energy phenomena. It  is extraordinarily unusual for a year to be uniformly “good” for the humans celebrating their birth  cycle, thus interrupting the usual ways in which the year’s energy equally enhances positive and faulty habits. Embracing the Rabbit in all humans, the year beckons happiness, no matter our circumstances.  To deny the playful flow of the Water Rabbit is to indulge in our habits and regrets.

The Rat will have an opening to embrace the joy of relationship, if she  sets aside the necessity to be right…

The Ox will enjoy the open space and time, the lessening of burdens even in loss, if she interrupts the reflexive need to singularly carry the  world’s responsibilities…

The Tiger, upon recognizing the year’s twists and turns as openings  rather than suspicious phenomena, will have fun…

Only the Rabbit’s strong will can keep her from having an especially  happy and productive year…

If she stops short of reflexively jumping into action, the mystery of the  Water Rabbit will seed the Dragon’s generosity and gratitude…

The Snake’s dislike for the more rapid pace of the Water Rabbit year  will be compensated by the many opportunities for both work and  especially for play…

The Horse, if she stops running from the unknown and unresolved, will garner a surprising trove of  happiness and growth…

The Sheep need not wander about, as even small tasks will reap satisfaction…

The year of the Water Rabbit will be an auspicious time of new beginnings for the Monkey, and a time  of rediscovery if the Monkey avoids chasing all possibilities…

With the prevailing energy influencing goodwill among most, the Rooster can set aside self-inflicted  drama in favor of fruitful relationships…

The Dog will have an especially expansive year as soon as she sheds past disappointments…

If the Boar doesn’t condition happiness on achievement, then the Water Rabbit year will bring both  stability and happiness.

The energy of the year will especially lift the Wood Rat, Wood Ox, Wood Tiger, Metal & Water & Wood  Rabbits, Metal Dragon, Wood Snake, Wood Horse, Wood Sheep, Earth & Wood & Metal Monkeys,  Metal Rooster, Earth & Water & Wood and Metal Dogs, and the Wood Boar.

Setting aside the reflexive patterns of our habits and regrets, the Year of the Water Rabbit offers the  energy, gift, and insight of happiness, even in the wake of fraught and uncertain times. It is ours if we so choose.

This forecast offered as the year turns from 2022 to 2023 at Daihonzan Chozen-ji in Kalihi Valley, O‘ahu. In humility with aloha, Norma Ryuko Kawelokū Wong Roshi.
